Could it be, that our enemy number 1 is not someone or something outside of us?
Could it be that it is our own inner judge?
The voice in our head, that pops up at the most unexpected (and unwelcome) moments, to tell us:
- You have not done enough, are not good enough, not worthy of love or respect, just by being who you are.
- Other people are not behaving as they should, or not treating you the way you deserve, and thus ruin your life.
- If only your circumstances were better, you finally could be happy.
Through constant fault finding with ourselves, others or circumstances, this inner judge can have a far more negative impact on our wellbeing, success, and happiness, than any public enemy ever could.
By telling us: If only I had done this, if she or he had done that, if I only had this beautiful house, career, or filled bank account, then life would be much better than it is now.
The problem here is not that the judge exists, but that we are often unaware of its existence.
Or when we are, that we believe it’s lies.
The good news is, that because it lives inside of us, we can end its power.
By becoming aware of its existence and way of operating, we make a pretty good start with it.
